JOKER-M    –   fire retardant paint

 1. FIELD OF APPLICATION AND PROPERTIES

Fire retardant paint “Joker-M” represents a dry mixture of heat-resistant gas- and foam forming compounds with non-organic additives. The paint will expand at high temperature, forming a foam isolating layer. Coating, based on fire retardant paint "Joker-M", is used for protection of the primed load bearing metal constructions as well as for protection of the reinforced concrete constructions. Coating should be covered with decorative waterproofing layer for outside (open-air) application.

Fire retardant paint “Joker” fully keeps the configuration of the treated surface, ecologically safe, non-toxic, fire- and explosion proof.

    
2. NORMATIVE AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Fire retardant paint "Joker-M" meets the requirements for III and IVgroups of fire-proof efficiency stated in NPB 236-97 "Fire-proof materials for steel constructions. General requirements. Method of determination of fire-proof efficiency" and can increase fire rating of metal constructions up to 90 minutes.

 4. SURFACE TREATMENT

Coating should be applied on the primed load bearing metal constructions (columns, beams etc). Condition, quality and  operation life of the earlier applied anticorrosion coating should be checked. Repair of anticorrosion coating using the same material can be performed if required. The recommended anticorrosion coatings: “GF-021” (glyptal base primer), “Akrilak EP primer” (epoxy base primer). Dust and dirt should be removed from the surface by means of wet rags, grease and oil stains can be removed with solvent (solvent № 646 is recommended). If application of solvent is not possible use the washing agents.

5. APPLICATION

Application conditions:

Ambient temperature - not less than +5 °С;

Relative air humidity - not more than 90 %;

Temperature of surface for application of paint should be 3° above condensation point.

Application modes:

Application is performed mechanically by means of high pressure machines of airless spraying with plunger pump (“Wagner HC 55 E”, “Graco”) or manually by brush or roller.

Mix paint thoroughly before application by means of the electrical mixer within 3-5 minutes.

Fire retardant paint should be applied layer-by-layer in several pass. Thickness of each "wet" layer may not exceed 500 micron. Interlayer curing within 2-6 hours (depending of application conditions). Number of layers is calculated according to the required fire rating.   

Final drying time - 1-4 days.

Cleaning of tools:

Wash the tools with water immediately after end of work.

6. OPERATING CONDITIONS AND LIFITIME OF COATING

Operation temperature:  from -50 0С to +50 0С

Layer of finish coatings "Akrilak Finish" or "Akrilak EP" required to be applied in order to provide fire-proof coating with atmosphere resistance.

Lifetime of coating not less than 15 years.

7. PACKAGING AND STORING

Fire retardant paint "Joker-M" is supplied in craft-bags of 15 kg as a dry mixture and in metal pails of 25 kg as a paint ready for use.

Shelf life of fire retardant paint in the packaging of manufacturer - 1 year in dry place at temperature above +50С.
